Veterinary Gateway Programme UCAS Code: D190
Institution Code: RVET R84

Entry requirements (2012 entry)

The Veterinary Gateway programme is a targeted Widening Participation initiative and has strict eligibility criteria. It is a competitive degree programme but the RVC actively encourages applicants with the desire to succeed. We look at three areas when deciding whether to invite an applicant to interview:

All three areas are important and are used in our selection process to determine who will be invited to interview. Our admissions tutors consider all applications carefully on their individual merits.

Below are our minimum requirements relating to academic qualifications and work experience. As this is a competitive programme, fulfilling these minimum requirements will not guarantee an interview in years when we have many competitive applicants.

Only one period of study of Level 3 qualifications will be accepted unless you are re-sitting those qualifications the following year.

Applicant requirements

You must fulfill all of the criteria below, and have the relevant academic qualifications

  • You must be attending a non-selective state school or college in the UK when you apply and must have been attending a non-selective state school or college since the age of 11.
  • Your parents must not have gone to University / into Higher Education (although if they attended as Mature students we would be able to consider you).
  • Total household income must be £25,000 or less (gross).  The only acceptable financial evidence will be a copy of the letter confirming eligibility for child tax credits showing the household income as being £25,000 or less. For students aged 19 or over, the alternative acceptable financial evidence will be confirmation of receipt of the appropriate amount of Adult Learning Grant based on a £25,000 income threshold.
  • The programme is not open to non-UK students

Academic qualifications

Applicants with the following qualifications will be considered. Information on the RVC entry requirements for these qualifications can be found by following the links in the list below but please note that only one period of study of Level 3 qualifications will be accepted unless applicants are resitting those qualifications the following year.
