Is it for you?
The programme is aimed at veterinary nursing practitioners who wish to develop their professional and clinical competence. It aims to foster higher level professional and clinical veterinary nursing skills with an emphasis on critical thinking by combining theoretical knowledge with practical application.
A strong emphasis on the analysis and discussion of real-life situations and a diverse range of teaching strategies will be used to ensure that by the end of the programme, students will have developed the skills to influence the provision of health-care to animal patients, contribute to the development of the veterinary nursing profession and become successful lifelong learners.
This is a post-qualification award for professional development and comprises a combination of modular short courses at honours level on the QAA framework for Higher Education Qualifications.
The programme enables students to tailor their educational needs to match their professional interests and clinical practice. It is delivered almost entirely online allowing veterinary nurses to access their learning whenever and wherever they want.
The Graduate Diploma is designed to be completed over a period of 20 to 36 months part-time. As a guide we advise students that they will need to commit approximately 15 hours a week to study.
Our programme is unique because it is worth 120 credits at level six (previously level three on the Higher Education framework) and you receive a University Qualification on successful completion of the programme. The RVC has a well-established programme in veterinary nurse higher education together with a more recent history of specialist and advanced online veterinary programmes. This means that the RVC has the expertise and experience to deliver this programme which combines a programme of high academic standard with an exciting and effective delivery method. Programme material has been developed by subject specialists at the RVC and for each module, a module leader is assigned, who acts as tutor and guide, setting a series of tasks and activities to augment the learning materials.
