Finance

There are a range of funding options available to students studying in the UK from overseas. Depending on the country you are applying from, you could be eligible for loans, scholarships or bursaries from a variety of sources.

It is important that overseas fees payers make provision for both fee and living costs prior to entering the UK. For further information please see:

International students who enter the UK on a student visa will also need to demonstrate that they have the means to maintain themselves whilst studying. More information on visas can be found at www.ukvisas.gov.uk The RVC can only offer very limited support to students who are facing hardship.

For further information on financial aid available to students from North America (via VMCAS), please go to Financial Aid and Loans.

Course-related costs

In addition to the routine expenses, it is also important to budget for course-related expenditure. This includes books, equipment and travel, particularly travel to placements and events. The type of equipment, clothing and books that you will require will depend on the course you are studying. A reasonable estimate to cover these items is £250 - £500 in your first year.

In later years of the course there will also be further additional travel costs as students see practice. Please be aware that you may also have to pay further living costs and have access to a vehicle during your Extra Mural Studies (EMS) in your fourth year. You will also find that vacations may be spent on placements, giving you limited opportunities for part-time work. Some part-time opportunities working for the College do arise from time to time throughout the year.
