Accreditation/Rankings
The Royal Veterinary College is one of only four vet schools in Europe to have achieved accredited status for its undergraduate programmes from the AVMA (The American Veterinary Medical Association).
AVMA accreditation gives added credibility to your degree in the eyes of employers and gives the RVC a badge of quality that distinguishes it from other institutions. Most importantly, it means you can enter veterinary practice in the USA on a level playing field with graduates of North American vet schools-a real advantage for RVC graduates looking to develop an international career.
You may notice that the RVC does not always appear in published rankings and league tables. Being a relatively small independent college of the University of London, with a niche focus, the College is not eligible to appear in many published tables.
When looking at rankings and league tables, it is important to look beyond headlines and make an evaluation based on a range of criteria. This will ensure you choose the programme best suited to you. Look at the Quality Assurance Agency’s (QAA) assessment of teaching standards and the College’s score in the latest European Research Assessment Exercise (RAE). The RVC scored a maximum 24/24 in the 2000 QAA assessment and a maximum 5/5 in the 2001 RAE so you can be confident in the quality of teaching and research across the College.
