Biography and Credits

Silvia JanskaSilvia Janska

I am a Slovak national and was born in Bratislava. Before coming to London I lived for 9 years in Slovakia and 9 years in Japan. From 1994 to 2000 I attended a Slovak elementary school, then I had a chance to experience a multicultural life at the International School of the Sacred Heart and the Seisen International School in Tokyo. I graduated in 2006 from Seisen with an IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma.

I am now enrolled in the BSc Veterinary Science course at the Royal Veterinary College. At the beginning of my first year at RVC I became interested in e-learning techniques and throughout the year I volunteered to help with podcasting and recording of the BSc VetSci lectures.

NickNick Short

In 2000 I joined the Royal Veterinary College and took up my present position as Head of the Electronic Media Unit. I am responsible for all e-learning activities at the RVC as well as running the Professional Studies module. I also lecture on a range of other subjects ranging from computer modelling to writing a good CV!

I am interested in deploying new e-learning techniques in ways that are accessible and make sense to the teachers and learners of today. I am particularly interested in how technology can support lifelong learning. As part of this interest I was responsible for creating a new model for e-CPD as well as launching the RVC 4 Life initiative.

Acknowledgments and Credits

A large number of collaborators and colleagues have been involved in supporting the Veterinary Podcasting initiative. We would like to thank the following but know that many others have been missed off the list.
