Zoe Halfacree

Zoë is a clinician working in the Soft Tissue Surgery Service and is also a member of the Interventional Radiology team.
Biography
Zoë graduated from Cambridge in 2001 and spent two years working in a busy small animal practice in Surrey. In 2003 she moved to the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals at the Royal Veterinary College, where she has completed a general small animal internship followed by a Senior Clinical Training Scholarship (residency) in Small Animal Surgery.
She is currently a Lecturer in Small Animal Surgery at the Royal Veterinary College. Zoë is a holder of the RCVS Certificates in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging and Small Animal Surgery and is a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons.
Research
Zoë’s research interests include the clinical use of suction drains, the management and outcome following oropharyngeal stick injury in the dog and options following thoracic wall resection. Zoë is also involved in the portosystemic shunt study.
Teaching
Zoë ‘s teaching role is predominantly performed through individual and small group teaching during the clinical rotations within the QMHA. She also contributes to didactic lecturing of the BVetMed Fourth year and the BVSc Nursing degree.
Zoë regularly contributes to the RVC CPD courses and has recently been involved in the Exploratory Laparotomy and Advanced Soft Tissue Surgery for Nurses courses.
Clinical
Zoë is interested in all aspects of Soft Tissue Surgery. She has a particular interest in wound management and reconstruction, thoracic surgery and abdominal surgery, including gastrointestinal surgery and portosystemic shunt attenuation.
Zoë is very interested in the additional therapeutic options that we can offer our patients through the growing discipline of Interventional Radiology, including tracheal, urethral and ureteral stenting.
