Wael Abdelrahman

Wael is a PhD student in the Infection & Immunity research programme. He is currently investigating methods for the detection and control of Brachyspira Spp. in laying chickens.


Biography

Wael graduted in 1999 from the veterinary medicine college, Suez Canal University, Egypt. He was appointed as a Demonstrator in the poultry medicine department until 2003 and then as an Assistant Lecturer in the same college.

Wael is currently undergoing a PhD which has started in November 2007 under the supervision of Professor Katharina Staerk, Dr Barbara Wieland and Dr Roberto La Ragione (VLA, Weybridge). His research is focused on Development of Molecular Diagnostic methods for detection of Brachyspira Spp., Brachyspira epidemiology, control and economics in laying chicken.
