Clinical Services: Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery and Small Animal Orthopaedics
Nicola Bound

Nicola works as a senior clinical training scholar in small animal surgery.  Most of her time is spent doing clinical work with both the soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery services. 


Biography

Nicola graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2006 and worked for 12 months in general practice.  She returned to the Royal Veterinary College in 2007 as Junior Clinical Training Scholar (intern).  After another year in practice in Caterham she obtained the position of a Senior Clinical Training Scholar (Resident) in Small Animal Surgery in 2009.  Nicola is enrolled to take the board certifying specialist examination of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS) in 2013.  She is also enrolled on a clinical masters programme (MVetMed) and obtained her certificate in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (CertVDI) in 2011. 

Research

Nicola has undertaken a variety of clinical research projects in both orthopaedic and soft tissue dissiplines.  Her current research involves ureteric stenting in cats and uroabdomen in dogs and cats.

Teaching

Nicola is involved with the teaching of both orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery to veterinary undergraduate students on their clinical rotations. She has also lectured to both undergraduate and nurses and is actively involved in training and supervision of interns on clinics.

Clinical

Nicola is interested in all aspects of small animal surgery and has particular interest in fracture repair, head and neck surgery and ureteric stenting.
