Md. Mahmudul Sikder

Mahmudul Sikder is a Commonwealth Scholar doing his PhD  under Dr. Sharon Kendall and Professor Neil Stokers' supervision.

His research involves investigating the role of TetR regulator in the virulence and persistence of  Mycobacterium tuberculosis  using the model of M. smegmatis and M. bovis.


Biography

Sikder was graduated from Bangladesh Agricultural University in Bangladesh with a DVM degree(2004). Later he received MS in Pharmacology with distinction from the same institution. Title of his MS was "Plasma pharmacokinetics and tissue distribution of enrofloxacin and ciprfloxacin in duck"

He moved to RVC in 2006 to do MSc in Control of Infectious Diseases in Animal. He passed MSc CIDA with merit next year. He was funded by Commonwealth Scholarship for his MSc. In his MSc, Sikder worked on Characterisation of cefotaxime resistant E. coli population in faecal samples from animals in UK.

Sikder joined in Professor Neil stoker's lab in 2008.

Teaching

 Mahmudul is a tutor for BSc Bioveterinary science for year 1 and year 2 students. He is also tutoring MSc students from CIDA ( Control of Infectious Diseases in Animals) and WAB    ( Wild Animal Biology) and WAH (Wild Animal Health).
