Matthieu Cariou

Matthieu is a Senior Clinical Training Scholar in Small Animal Surgery. He has an RCVS Certificate in Small Animal Surgery and is enrolled for the ECVS Diploma.
Biography
Matthieu qualified from the University of Alfort (Paris) in 2003. He completed a small animal internship for one year and then a small animal surgery assistantship the following year. Matthieu then came to England where he worked as the main surgeon of a practice in Essex for a year. He joined The Royal Veterinary College in September 2006 as a Senior Clinical Training Scholar in Small Animal Surgery.
Research
Matthieu has completed a study looking at the relationships between lactate concentration (a blood marker) and liver shunts in dogs. He is currently conducting a study looking at infectious complications arising from the use of chest drains.
Clinical
Matthieu's current areas of interest include lumbo-sacral disease and thoracic surgery.
