Lorna Treanor

Lorna is undertaking a PhD with the Centre for Veterinary & Bio-Veterinary Enterprise at RVC, exploring how incorporating entrepreneurship education within veterinary curricula might positively impact upon women’s entrepreneurship and small business leadership within this feminizing profession.
Biography
Lorna worked for several years as Senior Consultant in an economic development consultancy house in Northern Ireland, during which time she trained and mentored SME owner-managers and delivered Start Your Own Business training and support to aspiring commercial and social entrepreneurs. Lorna worked on several European Commission funded entrepreneurship related projects and undertook key evaluation and research assignments for the NI Regional Assembly and its Agencies.
Lorna then joined the Centre for Entrepreneurship Research in Ireland in 2006, where she worked as Centre Manager for five years managing a portfolio of National and European projects with a specific focus on women’s entrepreneurship.
Lorna is currently on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Small Business and Entrepreneurship (ISBE), the UK's largest organisation in this field. She is also Vice-Chair and a co-founder of the Gender and Enterprise Network, an ISBE Special Interest Group established in 2010 to promote scholarly research into the gendering of entrepreneurship. Lorna is also an Entrepreneurship Expert Panellist for the Irish Higher Education Authority, a role which involves reviewing and accrediting entrepreneurship Degree courses and programmes within Higher Education Institutions in Ireland.
