Ludovic is a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia. He is currently working as a clinical pharmacology research fellow who has a passion for clinically applied research in the field of inflammation and pain.
Ludovic graduated from the École Nationale Vétérinaire d'Alfort (Paris, France) in 2001, where he completed a two-year small animal internal medicine internship. He then completed a 3-year anaesthesia residency at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC), London, UK where he gained his European Diploma of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Anaesthesia in 2006.
Ludovic completed his pharmacology PhD at the RVC in 2010 on the roles of cyclooxygenase (COX) isoenzymes in the regulation of inflammation and the renal function in the cat (supervised by Professor Jonathan Elliott and Professor Peter Lees and Dr. Jon King).
Ludovic has been back in the clinics as a senior anesthetist since the end of his PhD. He is also currently a clinical pharmacology research fellow and is preparing for the board exam of the European Diploma in Veterinary Pharmacology and Toxicology.
Ludovic's main research interests is pharmacology of analgesics, in particular NSAIDs and other drugs in species of veterinary interest (cats, dogs, horses, calves but also emus). He is developing research programs in pharmacology and pain management (acute and chronic), particularly in the area of pharmacokinetics and mathematical modeling (PK-PD). Ludovic is particularly interested in population pharmacokinetics in veterinary species.
Ludovic collaborates in his research with colleagues from the RVC (Peter Lees, Jonathan Elliott, Holger Volk, Siobhan Abeyesinghe and others) and has established solid research or business relationships with external companies as detlaDOT Ltd, Transpharmation and Triveritas.
Ludovic is striving to expand the RVC analytical laboratory to support veterinary a therapeutic drug monitoring service and drug development schemes. The following position is open for applications until Dec 1st 2012:
Research Assistant in Bioanalytics starting in 2013: The Royal Veterinary College (RVC, Camden Campus) and deltaDOT Ltd are seeking applicants for an Analytical Chemistry Scientist position in the department of Comparative Biomedical Sciences to support drug development programs and drug dosage adjustment in veterinary patients through establishment of therapeutic drug monitoring services (Full details on: http://jobs.rvc.ac.uk/CBS-0144B-12). Applications close on February 9th 2013.
Ludovic supervises one PhD student: Miss Hannah Kenward (co-supervisor: Jonathan Elliott and Karine Savary-Bataille) and is currently advertising for another studentship:
PhD studentship starting in June 2013: We are currently seeking applicants for a fully-funded PhD studentship starting in October 2013 with the title: "Multidisciplinary approach for improving diagnosis and treatment of spontaneous canine neuropathic pain". Ludovic is running the both the small animal and the large animal therapeutics post-rotation taught tracking weeks (previously electives). He is teaching pharmacology to undergraduates for the BVetMed2, G&T and BVSc2 courses. He is also lecturing in the Problem Solving in Neurology and the Clinical Pharmacology modules of the MVetMed training for the Senior Clinical Training Scholars.
Ludovic takes part in the RVC CPD program (soft tissue trauma surgery).
Ludovic works for the RVC anaesthesia /analgesia service in the different hospitals (QMH, BSAH, Equine Referral Centre). He enjoys running the busy service, teaching students and anaesthesia residents and dealing with anaesthetic challenges.
Ludovic is the Scientific Abstract organizer for the Spring Meeting 2013 of the Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists, held at The Brunei Gallery of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) on 10-13 April. Abstracts to be submitted to AVALondon2013@rvc.ac.uk before Friday11th 2013.
