Biography

Jessica graduated with a first class BSc (Hons) degree in zoology from the University of Leeds in 2003. In 2008, Jessica completed a PhD in dairy cow fertility from the Royal Veterinary College, London, under the supervision of Professor Claire Wathes and Professor Michael McGowan. She now works as a post-doctoral research associate in the reproduction, genes and development group.

Research

Jessica’s main research interests are in the general area of dairy cow fertility. During her PhD, Jessica identified factors during the calf development period that are associated with the subsequent survival and fertility of dairy cattle. Jessica’s current research relates to the identification of genetic markers associated with fertility and longevity traits in dairy cows.
