Ilknur is an Anatomy Demonstrator in Veterinary Basic Sciences Department.
Biography
Following graduation from Veterinary Faculty in 1999 from Istanbul University, Ilknur worked shortly as a Vet in a small animal practice and a poultry farm. She then travelled to England to pursue a postgraduate career. Ilknur joined the VLA in 2002 to carry out voluntary work for one year.
In 2003 she was offered a PhD studentship which was funded by DEFRA, to study the interaction of E. coli O157:H7 with other attaching and effacing E. coli in sheep. Ilknur was registered at the University of Liverpool in the department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences and carried out her research at the VLA in Surrey in Professor Martin Woodward's work group in the Department of Food and Environmental Safety.
Ilknur took a three year post at the RVC in 2008 as a post doctoral research associate with Prof Fiona Cunningham researching the antimicrobial properties of equine platelets and its interaction with neutrophils. While researching platelets Ilknur helped to demonstrate Anatomy to RVC students.
Ilknur is currently full time Anatomy Demonstrator.
