Georgina Limon-Vega

Georgina is a Research Associate working as a member of the Epidemiology group. She is involved in various projects in the VEPH group combining animal welfare, epidemiology and public health research.
Biography
Georgina graduated with a degree in Veterinary Medicine from the National Mexican University (UNAM) in 2002. She worked during 3 years in veterinary practice in Mexico before coming to London. In 2008 she graduated with the MSc in the Veterinary Epidemiology from the Royal Veterinary College and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and was appointed as a Research Associate at the college shortly after.
Research
Georgina has been involved in various projects in the VEPH group combining animal welfare, epidemiology and public health research.
Georgina’s main area of interest is the application of epidemiological research methods to study livestock diseases in developing countries and their implications for people’s livelihoods. She has also an interest in improving animal welfare in less developed settings.
Georgina is also completing a part-time PhD focused on impact of diseases on smallholders and their implications for surveillance.
Teaching
Georgina contributes to the delivery of directed learning sessions and seminars for the BvetMed course Veterinary Public Health teaching. She is also involved in supporting epidemiology practices in the BSc Veterinary Science course.
Georgina has co-supervised MSc Vet Epidemiology dissertations and has contributed to training programs run by the VEPH group. She has also developed Distant Learning material for a EU funded project.
