Andrew Crawford

Andy is a Resident in Equine Surgery and Equine Diagnostic Imaging in the Equine Referral Hospital. He is also involved in teaching and delivering CPD at the Royal Veterinary College.
Biography
Andy graduated from the RVC in 2002. After completing an equine internship in private practice he worked in racing in South Africa for a short time before returning to equine practice in Sussex working primarily in surgery and orthopaedics for 4 years. He started a surgical residency at the RVC in 2007 sponsored by the Horse Racing Levy Board. He is a holder of the RCVS certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics).
Research
Andy's research is primarily into the investigation of racing injuries in young racehorses and their impact into future race performance. He is also involved in studies looking at tendon injuries, fractures and upper airway disorders.
Teaching
Andy is involved in the teaching of the final year BVetMed undergraduates during their clinical rotation blocks. He presents at some CPD for vets and client education evenings, more recently also becoming involved in the training of nurses and hospital technicians.
Clinical
Andy's clinical interests involve all aspects of equine surgery.
