Polly graduated in zoology from Bristol and then did her PhD "The scope for adjusting compliance in the equine distal limb" and then a post doc on equine limb mechanics in the lab. She moved to the university of Leeds to study bird flight in April 2002 and from there to Harvard University. Since 2005, Polly has been a Lecturer in Biomechanics at the University of Bath http://www.bath.ac.uk/health/sportsandexercise/Profiles/mcguigan.html .
