Post Doc Society
The Post Doc Society started in 2009 following the introduction of the Concordat, or code of practice for post-doctoral fixed-term contract researchers. The Concordat has identified the need to raise the profile of the often forgot, but essential group of staff- the post-doctoral scientists.
Our first challenge was to create a list of post Docs at the RVC. As we can be working here under various job titles it is difficult to determine who’s who. With help from HR and eMedia a list has finally been created - see Post Docs at the RVC. If however, you haven’t got on the list or are wrongly on, please contact Emma Reeve (ereeve@rvc.ac.uk) in HR.
We have been provided with some funding to organise a few events a year to increase our transferable skills and get ideas of what jobs are open to us following a post doc position. We are now taking it in turns to find speakers who may be interesting and inviting them to talk at the RVC. Please contact Gareth Maglennon (gmaglennon@rvc.ac.uk), Caray Walker (cawalker@rvc.ac.uk) or Sam Mirczuk (smirczuk@rvc.ac.uk) for advice if you have an idea you would like to advance.
