Career Options for Biomedical Scientists

15th March 2012 – RVC, Camden

Do you want a research career in academia/industry or are there more options available? Whilst traditionally a PhD/Post-doctorate provide training for a career in academia, increasingly nowadays those with a PhD are opting for alternative careers.  A PhD is recognized by a wide range of employers as a sign that you are hard-working and have a range of transferable skills such as project and time management, together with analytical and communication skills.

This one day seminar will bring together scientists with a biosciences background who have pursued a diverse range of careers after their PhD/postdoc including publishing/editorial roles in science journals, technology transfer at research institutes, regulatory affairs in the pharmaceutical industry, financial management in a cancer research charity to name just a few  They will provide first-hand experience of their chosen profession together with a chance to meet them informally at lunch and coffee.
