Careers Fair - Wednesday 14th January 2015

Book your place now for the RVC Careers Fair

This fair is part of a series of career orientated events for final year Veterinary students at the Royal Veterinary College. Trainee vets in their 3rd and 4th years have also been encouraged to attend, as have veterinary nurses at all stages of study.

This is a rare opportunity to meet veterinary trainees and promote your firm as an employer they should consider for their career post-qualification. It may also be a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness about the work you do in your organisation or services that you hope to provide for the professionals of the future.

The combination of a formal fair with an informal drinks reception will facilitate discussion and networking. RVC graduates are sought after in the veterinary profession, with 93% of BVetMed graduates in employment 6 months after graduation. Spaces are limited at this great event so book as soon as you can. For further details contact Emmeline Beazley on (01707) 667025.

BBSRC Industrial CASE Award information day

RVC Enterprise are arranging a BBSRC Industrial CASE Award information day and facilitated partnering session on Thursday 8th July, 10am – 1pm at the Potters Bar campus of the RVC.

BBSRC Industrial CASE award funding is a highly effective way for SME biotech companies to engage with leading academic researchers to address commercial R&D challenges.

Dr Dan Godfrey (Business Interface Programme Manager) from the BBSRC will be joining us to give us an update on the scheme. Attendees will also learn about the grant criteria and hear about the benefits of Industrial CASE from the perspectives of an experienced RVC academic and current CASE student.

Additionally, there will be a facilitated partnering session where companies will be able to meet with leading RVC academics with interests across basic, translational and clinical science in the both the veterinary and human fields.

RVC alumni working in relevant companies who would like to take this opportunity to meet current RVC academics are encouraged to attend (see below for joining details).

  • BBSRC Industrial CASE Awards offer one of the highest success rates of any mainstream grant application, and given this year’s short call window the probability of obtaining funding is greater still – don’t miss this opportunity to grow your network of scientific contacts and potentially submit an Industrial CASE Application.

MSc Veterinary Epidemiology – 10 YEAR REUNION - 30th March 2009

This year the MSc in Veterinary Epidemiology is 10 years old. It started in 1999 at
LSHTM, and moved to the RVC in 2000, where we have seen over 100 students
graduate from the course. To celebrate, Dirk Pfeiffer and Nadia Chan are planning a
10 year reunion of the alumni.

The event will take place on Monday 30 March 2009, from 1pm to 6pm in the Great
Hall in Camden Campus, RVC. Many of the lecturers you had on the course will be
attending.

It will also be 5 years since the Distance Learning MSc in Veterinary Epidemiology
and Public Health has started, and we will tie the 2 reunions together. We hope
this will be a good opportunity for our VE graduates to meet each other across
academic years and learn about work and research they are carrying out at their
organisations.

The day will include presentations of scientific papers and posters, and we would
like to involve as many of you as possible. If you have papers or findings you
would like to present or posters to put up, please email me some details. We look
forward to hearing from the wide range of areas where veterinary epidemiology is
applied -academia, industry, government work and fieldwork.

The event will be free, and there will be a part-subsidised dinner in the evening.
More details of the dinner will come in the December newsletter.

Included in the email are voting buttons for outlook users, so we can get a rough
idea of how many of you plan to attend.

We look forward to seeing many of you there!
