This page is a space for current RVC students to appeal to RVC alumni for donations. It's also an opportunity for alumni to discover a lot of the good work that RVC students are up to.
Student Research Team - Indonesia 2011
Posted 7th February 2011
This year the RVC Student Research Team, composed of nine 2nd, 3rd, and 4th year vet students will be travelling to Indonesia in May. The team is looking into Better Management Practices (BMPs), a set of government implementations aimed at promoting sustainable farming and disease control in small holding shrimp farms.
The team will be looking into three aspects of shrimp aquaculture: Socioeconomic effects, epidemiology of disease, and environmental impacts. The team is currently in the fundraising aspect of the trip, hoping to raise £10,000. As a student-led team, all the money comes from fund raising, sponsorships and donations and is not funded by the RVC. You can view some of the ways they have been raising funds on their blog

Tree of Life for Animals - India 2011
Posted 7th February 2011
Three final year students from the RVC are volunteering for the Tree of Life for Animals (TOLFA) out in Rajasthan, India, for three weeks over the Easter period. TOLFA is a UK based charity, and our main work in Rajasthan would be the neutering of stray dogs and cats, Rabies vaccinations, and helping to treat any other animal, large or small, that may present to the clinic.
The work of volunteers greatly benefits the welfare of both the human and animal populations. We are asking for donations of materials and equipment that are in great demand and very expensive to buy in India, such as suture materials and drugs such as Metacam. A full wish list that is needed by the charity can be found at http://tolfa.org.uk/our-wish-list/. Any donations will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for anything you can do to help this very worthwhile cause.
Please contact Rebecca Cato (rcato@rvc.ac.uk), Jennifer Woodburn (jwoodburn@rvc.ac.uk) or Rosie Webb (rwebb@rvc.ac.uk) for any more information and details of how you can help!
