The RVC’s PhD programme is the College’s investment in the future of teaching and research in the veterinary and biomedical sciences. You will be surprised at the range of topics covered in our research which extends from molecules to whole animals and populations of animals.
The College has over 100 research-active staff, who, together with their postgraduate students, are organised into eight groups, falling within four broad research themes:
- Musculoskeletal Biology
- Reproduction, Genes and Development
- Cardiovascular Inflammation Biology
- Infection and Immunity
You will join the RVC to undertake a specific piece of work under the direction of two supervisors, working within one or more of the RVC’s research groups.
Each research group has 10-20 researchers, led by senior members of academic staff and providing the optimum environment for research. The College runs a series of seminars for postgraduate and postdoctoral workers, to help support your studies.
As a member of the College’s Graduate School, you will be supported and provided with transferable skills training to support your studies. In addition to a full induction programme, we continue to support you throughout your studies with specific training days, an annual appraisal scheme and the use of a student log.
We recognise that every student is different and that your training needs and skills development will change throughout your time with us and we are keen for you to develop the right skills for your future career .
