Fee Status

How to determine whether you will pay tuition fees at the home or overseas rate

If you default on your financial agreement with us and ask to pay that debt in instalments, we will charge you 5% of the outstanding debt to arrange a debt repayment plan. Debtors will not be re-enrolled as students and we will use external agencies to recover debts. RVC reserve the right to exclude students who do not meet their financial obligation.

The tuition fee you pay depends on your fee status. The following requirements must be met for Home/EU fee status:

  • Persons who have permanent residence in the UK and have been resident in the UK for three years;
  • EU nationals and their families who have lived in the EEA for three years;
  • EEA migrant workers and their families in the UK who have lived in the EEA for three years;
  • Refugees (recognised by the UK government) and their families; and
  • Persons who applied for asylum and have been granted exceptional leave to enter/remain, and their families.

Home UK/EU students

Students from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and EU you will pay a flat-rate fee for each year of your programme.

How much will I pay?

For tuition fee for UK/EU students please see http://www.rvc.ac.uk/Money/ProspectiveStudents/Index.cfm

Loans are generally available from the government to cover the cost of tuition fees please visit Government Support for Prospective Students page.

UK students and some EU students will also be able to take out loans/grants to help with living costs and course related expenditure, please visit Maintenance Support page.

For more information on financial support available from the government please visit www.direct.gov.uk/studentfinance

UK students particularly those in receipt of a Maintenance Grant or Special Support Grant will also qualify for bursaries from the college – for information about entitlement please see the information in the RVC Bursaries section.

Overseas Students

Students who do not qualify for Home UK/EU fee status will usually be charged a higher overseas rate. Please see section for overseas fees payers. For further in depth information about fee status please see the UKCISA website also please see Funds for International Students, Financial Aid for North American

Equivalent or Lower Qualifications (ELQ) Students

ELQ students are those students who already hold a higher education qualification at an equivalent of higher level than the qualification they now wish to study. For example, if a student has a degree, and wishes to study for a second degree, they are an ELQ student and we will not receive HEFCE funding. Similarly, if a student has an MSc and wishes to study a Postgraduate Certificate then they are also an ELQ student.

Although we will not receive any HEFCE funding for ELQ students, we charge these students the same rate as non-ELQ Home/EU students.

Please note professional registration degrees are exempt from this.
