Alumni Awards
What are they?
The Development Office raises funds from our alumni who contribute to the College’s Annual Fund. The Annual Fund (www.rvc.ac.uk/RVC4Life) has a range of projects and our alumni choose where they would like their donations to be allocated. One of these funds is called the Alumni Assistance Fund and has been set up to enable the Development Office to award scholarships, bursaries and hardship grants to students with the aim of helping to relieve some of the pressures that you face and help you to concentrate on your education whilst at RVC.
The Development Office is pleased to announce the introduction of new RVC Alumni Award using funds provided through the generous donation of Alumni.
This award is aimed at students who can demonstrate significant endeavour in one of the following areas:
- Personal achievement
- Sporting achievement
- Community or cultural achievement
The application is open to all current second year students. The timing of the award is designed to coincide with the commencement of final years of study, or the commencement of clinical years in the case of Veterinary Medicine students.
The application form gives you the opportunity to tell us about yourself and the nature of your achievements, your future plans, and how an award will help you to achieve your objectives.
Please note that this award is not based on academic merit, but seeks to recognise other areas of achievement that enrich college life.
There will be five awards of £1,000 each made to UK/EU students and two awards of £1,000 each to International students.
The Development Office will expect successful applicants of this award to produce a few paragraphs as to why the award has been beneficial to them. Donors need to be kept informed as to where their money is being spent and your report will allow us to show our alumni how their donations are helping current students. From time to time the Development Office may hold events for supporters and, if you are willing, we may ask you to come along and chat to our alumni about the award and how it has helped you.
Who is eligible?
Applications will only be accepted from current second year students who do not hold a RVC Bursary, Merit Award, or International Scholarship.
When to apply?
The closing date for applications is: 1st May 2013.
