What was unique about the meeting?

The meeting was an international gathering of people who have made major contributions in the use of economics in animal health policy and decision making over the last 40 years. This was the first gathering of such high level people in such a focused meeting.

- how will we increase the impact of economic analysis on decisions about health?

An international meeting of world leading experts was held in London on 7th and 8th December 2010 to discuss the use of economics in animal health decision making. There were a total of 66 participants from the UK (41), Europe (11), Africa (4), Asia (1), Australia (1), North (7) and South America (1) with representatives from Universities and academic institutions in the UK and EU, DEFRA, FSA, NFU, DFID, FAO and CDC. The meeting was supported by The Royal Veterinary College, DEFRA, FAO and CDC.
