Rewarding Staff
Following the introduction of the single pay spine and, more recently, a formal process for the management of job evaluation, the College has established a Special Reward Panel of senior staff to monitor their application. The Panel comprises:-
- The Principal
- The Assistant Principal & Secretary to Council
- The Director of Finance
- The Director of HR
Following consultation across the College during 2008 and 2009, the College has introduced three locally determined flexible schemes to supplement the pay spine, and which can be used for specific purposes. These are:-
- An Extended Salary Range Scheme to assist with the recruitment and retention of highly valued staff;
- A Special Award Scheme to recognise work undertaken which is over and above, or outside of, normal working duties;
- A Recognition Scheme to provide immediate small rewards to staff on Grades 1-5 in a range of circumstances.
The new schemes make a significant addition to RVC’s ability to reward, recognise and retain people at all levels of the organisation, even as we move into a more uncertain economic period.
In addition to the details of the three schemes themselves, you can find information on this site about how the Special Reward Panel is administered, its Terms of Reference and how awards under the schemes can be applied for.
