Mentoring
Mentoring is a development technique where a more experienced staff member provides the opportunity for reflection and discussion, advice and feedback to an individual with less experience - in a safe environment. Through the mentoring relationship the mentee is supported in coping with the challenges and opportunities that he or she is experiencing in their work.
Heads of Departments or line managers should assign a mentor to all new members of staff within the first few weeks of their joining the College. Established staff moving into new roles may also benefit from the support and guidance of a mentor.
