Annual Review

The Annual Review takes place every December. It is a process which allows Heads of Departments to recommend to the Review Committee academic promotions. Academic staff can also put themselves forward for consideration for promotion.

The Review Committee does not consider support staff grading issues. Support staff who feel their role has changed to the extent where it is no longer graded at the appropriate level, should contact their line manager to discuss possible re-grading via job evaluation.

For academic promotions, staff are advised to consult another academic colleague about the written application; the UCU Local Association can suggest confidentially names of suitable advisors if requested. The written application (see below) must be read by the Head of Department and signed as a correct record, confirming agreement between the parties on the factual details of the application for the benefit of the Review Committee. Any disagreement must be recorded and appended to the application. The application, having been signed by the Head of Department (or unsigned if the Head of Department withholds his signature), must be sent to Human Resources Department along with the applicants CV in the standard RVC format (see below).

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS:
Friday 2nd December 2011

Academic Boards will be convened for those employees whose recommendation for promotion is approved by the Review Committee. HR will advise candidates in writing of the timing and constitution of the board and ultimately the decision of the board.

HR can give advice and guidance to line managers on the process. To contact a member of HR Operations staff, please visit the Meet The Team/Who Does What page.
