Gender
The Gender Equality Duty (GED) came into force in April 2007 and imposed a duty on Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) to actively promote gender equality, and to identify and tackle sex discrimination and harassment by ensuring the promotion of equality of opportunity between men and women in all their functions.
The GED recommended that HEI’s proactively promote equal opportunities between men and women by eliminating unlawful sex discrimination and/or harassment by promoting gender equality.
To help achieve this, the College produced a Gender Equality Scheme and Action Plan — which has been further developed with our work in devising a Single Equality Scheme and Action Plan (further details can be seen by visiting our Single Equality Scheme page).
We have developed a Single Equality Scheme and Action Plan, which will harmonise our equality policies. Please refer to our Single Equality Scheme page to download the scheme and for further details on our progress in this area.
