Equality & Diversity Web Based Training

As part of the College’s commitment to equality and diversity we are keen to ensure that all members of staff have undertaken up to date training in the area of equality & diversity.

Past experience from providing classroom-based training has shown that this is not an effective or cost-efficient means of delivering such training, especially as legislation in this area changes constantly requiring staff to update on a regular basis. We are in the process of implementing a new web-based training pacakge in order to facilitate the dissemination of equality & diversity training to all staff and enable individuals to undertake the training at their own convenience and eliminating the need to take time away from their job to attend courses on a specific date.

All new starters will be required to complete the Equal Opportunities and Diversity Essentials course, within 6 months of joining the College (successful completion will be a requirement for confirmation in post at the probation point). New managers are also expected to complete the Managing Diversity course.

The courses include realistic photo case studies to explore how the law applies in practice, quizzes to check understanding, web links to further sources of information, and a range of advanced accessibility features.

This training has intentionally been kept simple both in its look and operation and completion of each course should take no longer than 75 - 90 minutes.  Once you have completed the training a report will be generated by Human Resources and kept on your personnel file to confirm successful completion.

Staff can access the site at

Online Equality and Diversity Training

New starters will be pre-registered on the relevant course(s) and access details will be sent by Staff Training & Development via email.

Please note, access to this course is only available on campus.

Managers who may have staff who do not have access to a computer on a day-to-day basis, or if members of staff have any queries or experience any difficulties in using the software are advised to contact Staff Training and Development.

Staff who completed the previous web-based course are encouraged to download the summary document available below.
