HR Strategy
The College's HR Strategy is to recruit, reward, develop and retain the best possible staff locally, nationally and internationally, in order to achieve its mission and enhance its commercial success and reputation as a world class centre of academic excellence.
The Strategy underpins this mission in two main ways:-
- support for the growth and development of teaching, research, clinical and other commercial activities;
- development of the College’s intellectual, professional, managerial and technical capability.
It interacts and is compatible with other College strategies, including those for Learning and Teaching, Research, Widening Participation, Finance, Estates and Clinical Services. To view the full strategy, please click on the link below.
The 2009 - 2011 HR strategy expands on the strategies for 2001 - 2004, 2004 - 2006 and 2007 - 2009.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss the strategy further, please contact the Director of HR.
HR Excellence in Research
The College has been recognised by the European Commission for its 'HR excellence in research'. This award recognises the positive actions that the College has taken and will continue to take to support the career development of researchers and the actions in place to implement the principles of the Concordat to Support the Development of Researchers.
The College is one of only 50 UK higher education institutions to be recognised in this way.
This is a UK-wide process, overseen by Vitae, enabling UK HEIs to gain the European Commission’s ‘HR Excellence in Research’ badge, which acknowledges their alignment with the principles of the European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for their Recruitment. The UK process incorporates both the' QAA Code of Practice for Research Degree Programmes' and the 'Concordat to Support the Career Development of Researchers' to enable institutions that have published Concordat implementation plans to gain the ‘HR Excellence in Research’ badge. The UK approach includes ongoing national evaluation and benchmarking.
