The majority of our BVetMed and specialist postgraduates are interested in veterinary practice including companion, equine, exotic and farm roles and some seek alternative options. This is also true of our BSc Veterinary Sciences graduates.
Such other areas can include roles involving work with animals, animal charities, related government agencies, veterinary pathology, veterinary practice management and zoo-keeping. Additionally, scientific roles in industry, academia and publishing are often of interest.
All BVetMed students are required to complete Extra Mural Studies (EMS) placements as part of their training and a significant number of BSc Bioveterinary Sciences students opt to complete an industrial placement year as part of their course. All students are encouraged to undertake internships and relevant part-time work alongside their studies. We also welcome veterinary nursing vacancies.
RVC are committed to creating employable graduates that meet the needs of the veterinary sector and beyond. Our commitment to creating leaders of the future does not stop at helping our graduates into employment; We recognise that finding the right role, offering professional development and job satisfaction, is just as important for all our graduates and their employers. So, whether you are an alumnus of the RVC who appreciates the opportunity to maintain this link with the College and is well aware of the capabilities and skills of our graduates, or an employer who is learning about us for the first time, thank you!
If you have any questions about the vacancy promotion process, or would like to engage our students / graduates further, please contact the RVC Careers Consultant Gemma Ludgate at careers@rvc.ac.uk.
