Neurology and Neuromuscular Diseases

The Equine Referral Hospital welcomes referrals for evaluation of horses and foals with suspected neurological or neuromuscular disease. Metal implant used to fuse 2 adjacent vertebrae, 3 months following surgeryState of the art diagnostic facilities include digital radiography, computed tomography (CT), myelography and electromyography.

Clinicians work closely with the Comparative Neuromuscular Diseases Laboratory, which offers sophisticated histopathological assessment of muscle biopsy samples to evaluate equine muscle disorders. In addition, we perform surgical stabilisation surgery for Muscle biopsy stained to show internalised nuclei consistent with muscle regenerative responsehorses with Wobbler syndrome and have dedicated stabling facilities with 24 hour care for long term convalescence of recuperating horses.
