Pet Passports

We can arrange pet passports for you - this is a time consuming process requiring vaccinations and blood tests. If you are thinking of taking your pet abroad and returning to the UK, we recommend contacting us at least six months prior to travel for new passport applications.

For specific information relating to the travel requirements for your pet please contact

DEFRA on 08459 33 55 77 or visit http://www.defra.gov.uk/wildlife-pets/pets/travel/index.htm

We are seeing increasing numbers of rabbits and other small furries (hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs etc) in London. These sensitive creatures have special needs and consideration so we have a separate waiting room and ward facilities especially for their care. We are confident performing dental work and neutering (spaying and castration) on small furries. Our post-operative care is exceptional with heated recovery kennels closely monitored by our qualified nurses and veterinary students.

We pride ourselves on our high level of diagnostic, surgical, hospitalisation and nursing care. (see facilities).

Diabetic Clinic

When your pet is diagnosed with diabetes, it can be a difficult and worrying time. Pets' can often have other related health problems.  If your pet is being treated with insulin, we will advise you on the care and administration of insulin as well as monitoring your pet’s blood glucose levels at home. Diet and exercise are an important part of managing your pet’s diabetes. Please contact the hospital for further information or to make an appointment to discuss your pet’s individual needs.

Senior Dog and Cat Clinics

In addition, we have a wonderful geriatric cat clinic. The clinic aims to investigate problems which are common in older cats, particularly kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, and hypertension (high blood pressure). If your cat is newly diagnosed with any of these problems, you may be offered the chance to attend this special clinic. The geriatric clinic staff are also interested in seeing cats that are over 8 years old that appear to be healthy. These pets can be checked for kidney disease, hyperthyroidism, and hypertension before they become severe. This involves a general examination including measurement of their blood pressure, examination of their eyes, blood and urine tests if appropriate. If your cat seems to be healthy and needs his/her booster vaccination this can be given at the same appointment. Booster vaccinations and any drugs that are required have to be paid for, but if your cat is enrolled with the geriatric cat clinic as a regular attendee check ups are free, as are blood and urine tests and ultimately a special kidney diet should it be required. To find out more please contact our reception team on 020 7387 8134. The clinic runs on Wednesday mornings and is very popular.

Cardiac Clinic for Dogs

We also run a cardiac clinic for dogs with mitral valve insufficiency. Several cardiologists are involved and the dog’s heart function is monitored every six months. Each dog gets a full clinical examination, blood and urine tests, an ECG and an ultrasound of their heart. This is all funded by a sponsor so we can offer this service free of charge (any medication has to be paid for). The clinics are held on alternate Thursdays. Please contact us on 020 7387 8134.

Nurses Clinics

Our highly trained nurses can help with a variety of minor procedures and conditions and are always on hand to give advice

  • Post operative wound care and stitch removal

  • Medicating
  • Dressing changes
  • Worming and flea control
  • Bathing and grooming advice
  • First aid and insurance advice
  • Behavioural advice and puppy parties
  • Nail clipping and anal glands

Neuter Clinic

Neutering offers important health benefits for dogs, cats and rabbits, as well as reducing the risk of some behavioural problems and helping to control the number of unwanted puppies and kittens needing homes. We strongly encourage all pet owners to talk to us about the benefits of neutering for their pet.

We offer a discounted price for all neutering as our final year students participate in all our neutering operations. Further support may be available for OAP’s, students and those on benefits/low incomes.

The hospital neutered 1,700 dogs and cats last year. We routinely neuter rabbits (spay\castrate), guinea pigs (castrate), ferrets (spay and castrate), rats (castrate) and gerbils/gerds (castrate).

If you have any kind of overpopulation problem - actual or potential - please contact us and we will help you. More puppies and kittens are born every year than can be found homes, please do not be part of the problem.

If you are considering breeding a pet please let us run through all the financial and medical implications with you first. The care required in the 8 weeks between birth and re-homing and the warning signs to look out for during pregnancy, birth and lactation is a lot to consider. Please phone our  clinic nurse on 020 7387 8134.

Insurance Claims

Upon proof of a valid current policy we are happy to make claims directly to your insurance company so you only need to pay your excess and any outstanding balance once they have paid us.
