About Us
The Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital (BSAH) is a modern hospital with a history of caring. Having opened as a small animal teaching hospital in Camden in 1932, it was the first of its kind, offering facilities and medical care previously not available for pets.
After a long history of providing high quality care and education to pet’s and the local community, the BSAH today remains deeply committed to providing a high quality, approachable, caring and affordable service to the pet owners of North London.
The BSAH is everything you would expect from a leading veterinary hospital. As a fully equipped RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) accredited hospital, we offer a full range of services for your dog, cat, rabbit or other small animals from preventative health care to life saving operations.
Our dedicated teams of vets and nurses are passionate about providing the very best care and continually keep up to-date with the latest in veterinary medicine.
As part of The Royal Veterinary College, we have students in their final year of studies observing and participating in the consultations.
Our veterinary students are involved in all aspects of the hospital. However, it must be stressed that they are under the strict instruction of our own experienced vets and team of dedicated nurses. All student interaction with patients is supervised and guided by a qualified member of staff at all times.
We aim to be an efficient, professional and well run hospital with your pets health, happiness and wellbeing as our highest priority.
The fourth year students learn how to cope with the demands of general practice through observation and discussion, concentrating on "first day skills" which include:
- Working in mutually satisfying teams with other vets, nurses and receptionists
- How to communicate effectively, confidently and sympathetically with owners
- Working with owners for the ultimate good health and best interests of their pets
- The process of caring for a pet from its first vaccination to the compassionate euthanasia it may require at the end of its life
- To understand and work within the individual financial constraints of each owner for the best possible care of their pet
- To appreciate the emotional bond between an owner and their pet
- To deal effectively with all small animals, from budgies and hamsters to cats and dogs
- Learning to apply theory to practical situations - animal handling, catheterisation, fluid and drug dose rates, diagnostic workups, vaccination and neutering.
