Facilities
Although it was built in 1932, (see History of the Hospital) the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital has undergone many internal refits to ensure our facilities meet and exceed the needs of our evolving clients and patients.
As a fully equipped RCVS (Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons) accredited hospital, animals in our care have access to a comprehensive range of facilities including species separated waiting rooms and wards.
We are one of the only London practices to have outside runs available for dogs and our newly refurbished cat ward has a calming ambience to ensure your feline friend feels as safe and secure as possible.
We have full access and toilet facilities for the disabled and our consult rooms are fitted with hearing loops. Should you require any further assistance for your visit, please contact our reception team who will be happy to help where possible.

Reception and Waiting Area
Your pet’s health and wellbeing is paramount to us and we understand how important these members of your family are to you. Our reception area has been designed to make sure their visit is as enjoyable as possible.
We have a spacious waiting room with separate areas for dogs, cats and small furries which helps to make their visit as calm and relaxed as possible. Use of Feliway and DAP in these areas helps to calm your pet while waiting to see the vet or nurse.
The hospital was awarded a Feline Advisory Bureau (FAB) Bronze award in 2007 for being a cat friendly practice. We continually ensure that all our patients are looked after in the best possible way ensuring a completely relaxed and stress free visit.
We also stock a wide range of toys, foods, accessories and cat litter amongst other products. Our reception team are happy to answer any questions you might have and advise you on the relevant products for your pet. If there is something specific that you require that we don’t have in stock, then please do not hesitate to contact us – we can usually get the item you require within 24hrs. This is a collection only service.
Water can be provided for pets should they require it - just ask our reception team, so that we can provide a fresh bowl.
Consultation Rooms
We have five spacious and well equipped consulting rooms. There is seating for clients and hearing loops for those who need it. Each consult room is equipped with x-ray viewers and wipe/write boards to help our veterinary surgeons explain their findings to you. We have a black-out room for ophthalmic examinations and a videopath unit allows us to show you the inside your pet's ear or the back of their mouth on a monitor.
All of our consulting rooms are also fitted with feliway diffusers to help calm our more nervous feline visitors.
Wards
In our spacious hospitalisation facilities there are separate wards for dogs, cats, small furries and reptiles. By keeping the different species apart we can minimise the stress of being in hospital for them.
All of our wards are fitted with heating and cooling to ensure your pet is comfortable and behavioural considerations are made to assist the well-being of each and every patient. Should your pet need to stay with us, each ward has a dedicated nurse for the week, ensuring your pet has a familiar face to care for them each day.
We have a completely separate isolation ward for potentially infectious cases and the species are kept separately here too.
Our fully qualified and experienced veterinary nurses provide observation, pre and post-operative care and nursing expertise to our in-patients using the best in practical equipment:
- Incubators
- Baby monitors
- Humidified oxygen therapy
- Drip pumps and warmers
- Heat pads and infrared lamps
- Padded and heated beds
Visiting can be arranged by appointment with your pet's nurse. This allows us to minimise disruption to recovering patients; we are happy for you to see our facilities. Please make an appointment with our reception team if this is something you would be interested in doing.
Most importantly, we have 24-hour veterinary and nursing care available to our in-patients. Whatever your pet needs, it will get, throughout the nights and weekends. You will never be asked to move your sick pet to another clinic for overnight or weekend care unless we feel a specialist referral is indicated.

Spacious operating suites with a separate preparation room allow us to operate to the highest standards of care and sterility. We have separate theatres for neutering, soft tissue surgery and orthopaedic surgery. Each theatre is maintained to an exceptional standard of cleanliness with positive pressure ventilation to ensure minimal risk of surgical contamination. All theatre staff and students change into scrubs and clogs. All surgeons are gowned, gloved and masked.
The surgical ward is a closed sterile area and consists of:
- A Preparation Room
