Nick Short - Head of eMedia Unit

Nick is committed to the development of accessible and practical e-learning techniques for the teachers and learners of today and tomorrow. In particular, he is interested in how these technologies can support professional lifelong learning.

He believes that the potential of web technologies in education have only just started to be realised. There will be many opportunities in the future to foster collaboration and share resources. His personal passion is to explore how this potential can be tapped to help create new partnerships with colleagues in the developing world.

Bev Panto - Consultant Developer

I am a 2009 RVC graduate and am currently working on a number of different initiatives with the eMedia department. Having recently taken a trip to East Africa, I am now involved with a LIDC and DFID funded development education initiative, teaching 1st to 3rd year BVetMed students about vets' roles as global citizens. I am also temporarily overseeing the development of WikiVet; a veterinary specific, online collaborative resource to supercede Wikipedia for vets, vet nurses and students internationally. As part of this role I am also coordinating an RCVS Trust subsidised addition to the site, called WikiQuiz. This is a bank of multiple choice questions, for self-directed, formative assessments, linking into WikiVet content to elaborate on feedback.

Sonya Powney - Learning Resources Developer

Sonya joined The Royal Veterinary College in October 1996 and has produced a range of interactive multimedia programs (see examples of Sonya's work) for veterinary undergraduates and vets in practice. She currently develops teaching resources for delivery over the RVC intranet and the Blackboard VLE. Her skills include project management, instructional design, multimedia, programming, usability testing and online assessment.

Sarah Sherman - BLE Service Manager

An experienced adviser and qualified teacher, Sarah has provided strategic advice to senior managers about the implementation and development of e-learning. She has developed and delivered training events for technical and academic staff of all levels and supported the use of e-learning and learning technologies to support learning, teaching and research. In her previous role as the e-Learning Adviser for the JISC RSC London, she also provided individual support through structured intuitional visits and kept the London HE community up-to-date with e-learning developments through monthly bulletins, mailing lists and forums.

Since joining the RVC multimedia team his projects have included the design, implementation and maintenance of the original college intranet; six redesigns of the RVC website and three of the College intranet; creation of several other RVC-hosted websites; design and production of graphics, animations and interfaces for several CD/online learning programs; and anything else that gets thrown at him.
