AVMA Accreditation

AVMA logoThe Royal Veterinary College is accredited by the Council on Education of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). The College has Full Accreditation. The College’s most recent AVMA site visit took place in October 2012 and the RVC has now become the first UK school to successfully seek reaccreditation twice.

During the visitation the site team assessed the RVC against the 11 standards laid down by the Council on Education of the AVMA with a major emphasis on the educational and clinical experience provided to the students - from facilities to curriculum, and from staffing to finances. The College was commended in each of the 11 standards with the visitors commenting on an unprecedented 25 areas of excellence including facilities, curriculum, the student experience, student support, and staff and student commitment and engagement.

NAVLE

In order to practice Veterinary Medicine in North America, graduates of accredited programmes must have passed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE).

In 2011/2012, the most recent year for which figures are available, 22 students out of a final year class of 216 took the NAVLE, and of these, 19 passed.
